However, there was something odd about these Earth-changing developments. With the rising of the Colorado Plateau, the area’s drainage channel went through a massive shift. The ice began to melt, and with rainwater being trapped in the mountains’ rocky regions, it started to flow westward. Over time, the increase in the flow of liquid became uncontrolled, and what we know today as the Colorado River was formed with a strong foundation and force. It is impressive how nature by itself can do so much and, in turn, amazes us.

With the Colorado River strengthening with each passing day, the force that came with it over the millions of years brought plenty of debris in its flow that would eventually wear away the rocks that lay below. In addition to the rocks being worn out, the metamorphic, sedimentary, and igneous rocks that lay on the surface started to form a funnel-like structure as the water rushed downwards. After seeing how the rocks were affected to this extent, geologists were unsurprised when they realized the banks were being eroded. This caused the formation of a canyon due to the pressure and speed at which the flow moved.
