Many of the rocks that have been studied now form what we know as the Grand Canyon and are the focal point for a lot of tourists who visit the area annually. The northern rim of the Canyon is popularly called the Isis Temple and is positioned at an average of 7,000 feet above sea level. In addition to this feature, there is also the Granite Gorge, which is a stretch that is an interesting feature of the park. They stand as a crevasse for the Colorado River and collectively something of a cradle that keeps the river flowing smoothly.
