Karl Karstrom’s Findings

The journal, Nature Geoscience, published findings and arguments from geologist Karl Karlstrom about some of the secrets of the Canyon. To start, he noted that the Grand Canyon was much younger than the 70 million year span they had put on it. Karlstrom noted the Canyon is made up of different regions, which means there are separate histories for each part, as well as age differences for the various areas. In his findings and arguments, Karlstrom also noted the rocks and crevasses didn’t actually join together to form what we see now until roughly five to six million years go.

Controversial Findings

However, the findings presented by Karlstrom have been proving to be a bit controversial, and not everyone is in agreement with the information presented about the Canyon. There could be some worry about it in exposing the truth – even though the truth will have to be unraveled. Another geologist, called Wayne Ranney, detailed in a 2019 interview with a Boston radio station called WBUR that the Canyon walls are being torn away by the Colorado River’s gushing waters. This process is slowly destroying the first history that initially made up the structure of the Canyon.
