All police dogs eventually retire from service, but that doesn’t mean that they stop using the skills they learned during training and active duty altogether. In this particular story, a retired police dog simply couldn’t stop barking at a single tree in the middle of a long walk for some reason. His owner could not get him to move away from this tree, which indicated that there may be something suspicious hidden in or around it. Wondering whether there might be trouble lurking beneath the stump, the dog’s owner started digging into the loose bark, only to gasp in horror at what he saw. What was it that the dog had picked up using its sense of smell, and did his discovery avoid a potentially dangerous situation for someone else?
The Great Discovery
Who would have thought that a dynamic duo of dog and owner could stumble onto something so surprising as they were going about their daily business. It was clear that there was something lurking in or beneath the tree that was not exactly kosher. Was it possible that this was something as sinister as a human body? The dog dared not move, as he waited for his owner to remove the tree out of the ground.
A Man On A Mission
Owner Smith knew that his dog would not be focused on the area for nothing. Considering his police training, and years spent on the force, he was almost certainly going to stumble onto something significant. He felt his heart race and his hands clam up at the thought that there may be something illegal hidden inside the tree. Once he saw what it was, his jaw dropped to the ground. He couldn’t believe that it had been there all along.
