Not Shying Away From Confrontation
The old Madelyn would have quietened down and shied away from the confrontation, especially as she didn’t have the self-confidence to defend herself. As the two women continued to tell her what was wrong with her body, for the first time in her life she got an urge to defend herself, taking pride in the hard work she had done to achieve this point. Madelyn was not about to “let this one slide” and wanted to stand up for herself, as she had struggled to do in the past.

Trust in the Difficult
While talking to the water park employees, Madelyn recalled an old saying that encourages us to “trust in the difficult”. This meant that anything challenging that we face in our lives will ultimately result in an opportunity to learn and grow. If these women thought they could tear her down, Madelyn knew that by trusting this difficult moment, she would come out stronger in the long run.
